To Sachin who sold his Ferrari

If you are a Sachin fan, and wish to hurt your sentiments purposefully, though that’s not my intent, feel free. I love Michael Schumacher(in this story, I love him even more). In fact, I love Shcumi from the days of watching F1 on Doordarshan on big boxes, also known as TV’s. Year after year, the cars zipped by on screen, and I watched. There was no internet then, and I’m a self taught F1 fan. At the start it didn’t even make sense, who won, what was the car a driver drove, or in fact what was the driver’s name, but in a few years I knew all about Schumacher, and Ferrari.

Now, I didn’t ever want to know about Sachin, but he’s always in news, so, I accept he’s very popular. He also has many records and ad deals, so, obviously he has a lot of money and that establishes that he didn’t sell the Ferrari because he was cash strapped. Also, I believe he has not lost his mind, so, this is not an act of insanity. Appears, it’s a parking issue. Fair enough because he just doesn’t have place to park the Ferrari considering he has to arrange parking space for 40 cars. Tough spot.

This poor Ferrari didn’t almost make it to India because of customs duty imposed on it which wasn’t to be waived off because the car was received as a gift, and not a prize. The Ferrari 360 Modena finally did come to India a year later, and Sachin didn’t have to pay customs duty. The car stands testimony to many greats which can simply be summed as ‘a gift from Ferrari to Sachin Tendulkar when he equaled Don Bradman’s record of 29 Test centuries, with Michael Schumacher handing over the Ferrari 360 Modena to the batsman. Did you spot the greatness of the moment?

So, What’s the moral of the story?
Well, this one has no moral, it’s plain disrespectful.

    :-)

Seriously, this one is beyond my understanding. He can park 40 cars, and not this one. I mean, what’s with this man. And why did he sell it for the sake of selling. An open auction would have been so much cooler. People would bid high because of the names involved, and it’s a Ferrari, and he should have given that money away immediately for a cause rather than being so bizarre.

Money or no money, I’m simply cheesed off cause he actually went ahead to sell it. I mean common, Schumi was there, damn :-|

you guys are carzy, dont you realize that schumi and sachin dont even know you exist, will u guys stop fussing so much over what schumi and sachin are doing, whats wrong in your heads guys really, its beyond my comprehension, i hope someday sachin meets you guys and tells you with a finger “its my f******g car, i gonna do what i gonna do with it, go f**k yourselves, A******s”.

    Amen.

Them not knowing that we don’t exist doesn’t equate to us not existing. Also, he may react in any way he pleases, that still doesn’t undermine what really happened.

  • I AM

You do exist Nabanita, but it seems your existence is directly DEPENDENT on the existence of the likes of schumi and sachin,

it seems as if in case these people someday dissapear from the face of the earth, you will find yourself comepltely lost,

cause then you will say “oh no, it was so much fun seeing sachin and schumi poo on my carpet and me cleaning it up, now whos poo am i gonna play with, boo hoo, boo hoo…”.

my advice to all you folks out there is to get over your celebrity fixation,

lets kill the celebrity culture !!!

again there’s not much I can do if you don’t like Schumi.

  • I AM

I like racing (bike, car, any) and i do it in real life – but what do i have to do with what schumi has for his breakfast,

i once was a great cricket player – but even then i never longed to get sachin’s autograph on my bat,

i also like football, was once a great goalkeeper cum defender – but it didnt matter to me that maradona was getting addicted to cocaine

celebrate the skills, the passion, the pain of losing, the joy of winning, the sport in general, but stop being a paparazzi, once in a while its okay, but constantly ranting about it is plain silly, please stop being a dunderhead,

Why can’t you celebrate life and see things for what they are rather than being on this comparison mode.

Of course you’re free to keep comparing but your not convincing me. I love Schumi, and that’s not going to change. I’m not a Sachin fan, and neither is that going to change.

  • I AM

who is comparing, i am just saying that a celebrity is okay, but the problem is that this celebrity culture gives rise to thousands and thousands of microscopic celebrities like you who exist / live / thrive on the excreta of these famous celebrities like schumi, and that’s exactly what i hate,

if you have the balls, become a real celebrity, if not then just shut your mouth and live like a common man, dont ever think that just because you like schumi makes you better than someone who does not,

please change your attitude, cause the fact is that no once is better than anyone, peoples lives are just a complex mix of genes, situations, environment, luck and free will,

we dont need celebrities, and certainly no microscopic celebrities like you. Period.
